MAYOR’S MESSAGE FOR March 2012

Turn our clocks ahead on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2 a.m. This is a sure sign of Spring Fever. We really have had a great winter. Mark has kept our Highway Department very busy. He has set up a night crew and that has cut the overtime in that department. Mark has put a lot of new ideas to work and they have been a success. We all thank Mark for his commitment to our Village.
Our Police department has also been very busy. Calls have been up and the weather has been good so they have not had much down time. The Chief has also cut down on his overtime budget. We all thank the Chief for his commitment to our Village. He has done a great job with our Police Department.
It is a very busy time for the Village Board. We are now in budget time. We have been working very hard and we all have some tough decisions to make regarding the budget. Since our sales tax revenue has been cut deeply we can’t put this burden on the taxpayers back. Every board member has been taking this very seriously and trying to cut expenses where we can. We are always trying our best to cut where we can and not hurt services to this community. We are also trying to look at what we can share with the Town of Geddes and Onondaga County. I also would like to thank all the taxpayers that come to our meetings and voice their opinions. This helps us stay on top of issues that sometimes we forget about.
Again, we have cut overtime only in emergency situations and we are cutting spending wherever we can. We are all putting our heads together and working on this budget together. I thank every member of this Board for working so hard. Hopefully, it will pay off.
Sincerely
Mayor Kathy Marinelli
