MAYOR’S MESSAGE FOR JUNE 2011

We would like to extend our sympathies to the families of Daniel Patalino Jr who passed away on May 5th 2011 and Mary Jane Poli who died on May 7th, 2011.  Both Dan and Mary Jane were former Village Trustees.  They both will be sorely missed.

If you happen to look around our Village and see all the beautiful flowers, plants, and our new wooden planter in front of the Veterans’ Memorial, the thank-yous go to Laurie and Mark Cazzolli.  They look beautiful and many thanks.

We now are in the process of fixing the potholes and repairing sidewalks and driveways that were damaged this winter.  Please be patient if you have been put on a list for repairs.  The Highway Department will be out to do the repairs.  We have many projects to do this summer and are working on getting them done.  My door is always open and please feel free to call me if you have a complaint that has been unresolved.

Solvay Memorial Pool will be opening for the season on June 26th and will be closing on August 20th.  Please check the website for the scheduled hours.

Our outdoor Movie and Popcorn night at Woods Road Park will be held on July 22, 2011 at 8:00 p.m.  Look for more details on the Web site.

Our Summer Festival is scheduled for August 18th through August 20th.

We are still working on getting the Farmer’s Market going again and are looking for farmers or anyone in the village that would like to participate.  The market will be held in the Milton Ave parking lot.  Please call the Mayor’s office at 468-1652 for more information.

With our new Storm Water Clean Water Act in effect, when cutting your grass please try to sweep it up and not into the street.  The grass has chemicals and gets into the drains and into the water.  We can be fined according to the new law.

We have also put in for a Community Development Grant to start the streetscape in the West end of the Village.  We will keep you up to date on this.  The East end of the Village is looking good and we need to concentrate on the West end of the Village.

The Mayor and Board of Trustees hope you have a safe and happy summer!

Kathy Marinelli, Mayor
